Stephan Jahn, who started his career as a young man in the timber business in a planing mill in the USA, and Claudio Kaiser have worked together since 1998, first mainly as agents for plywood from Brazil and Malaysia for German and Benelux markets.
Together they founded IMPAN GmbH in June 1999, taking over the activities of Tozai Products Ltd., UK (Sashi Ohori), specialized in representing renowned Indonesian plywood mills. With those factories and in particular PT KUTAI TIMBER INDONESIA (KTI) a close cooperation and partnership was developed.
In 2000, Anita Klein and shortly after, Jutta Valldorf joined the team for back office. They attend to our business partners professionally, handling incoming orders, coordination of transports by container or truck, supervising timely delivery.
Gradually, our business focus has shifted towards plywood and other wood-based panels of increasingly higher quality.
In 2001, we won DFK / Demidovo Plywood Mill, Russia as partner for high quality birch plywood.
Step by step, we have expanded our market to industrial customers in Europe (mainly paper laminating industry / door industry). This has led to a successful development of customized products in cooperation with both, customers and manufacturers, especially for light weight panel products.
Equally, we keep supporting the import trade across Europe as reliable link to our mills.
Meanwhile, Indonesia and Russia have become our key procurement markets. Moreover, we have close contacts to our partner mills in Malaysia, China as well as East and Western Europe.
Balsa is the youngest member in our portfolio. Since 2010, we have supplied the model construction and wood-based panel industry in Europe with extremely light weight sheets and core materials from Indonesia – since 2014 also with best plantation grown Balsa lumber from Papua New Guinea.
Quality, continuity, ecological and economic sustainability, partnership and last but not least close personal contact with our customers and suppliers make us your strong and reliable partner!
